We got the vacation club spiel as required by our rate, and it was actually rather painless. The setting of the place is lovely, as is the beach, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. The food was mediocre at best, which turned out not to be such a bad thing because we didn't overeat like we often do on vacation. The bathroom smelled like a sewer when we arrived, although once maintenance came it was better.until the next morning when it smelled again. Our room was spartan and shabby - there were holes in the blackout curtains, pockmarks on the bathroom mirror, and the bedskirt had tons of stains that were just gross. The mosquitoes are absolutely horrible, we all had horrible itchy bumps from the bites all over.We paid a very low promotional rate for our stay with the required vacation club tour so maybe we couldn't expect too much, but this was by far the worst all-inclusive club we have stayed at. While playing volleyball in the pool a guest playing with cut open her foot really bad because the tile was in horrible shape and was coming up from the ground of the pool. So be aware the maids will go through your luggage to see what they can find and snatch up. The worst part of all, the maids stole money out of my wife’s luggage, also our friends had money stolen by the maids as well, the money wasn’t left out it was hidden in between clothes in the suitcase because the safe was not working in our rooms. Other guests from our group had their toilets broken, they had to use the bathroom in the lobby, they weren’t changed rooms, they were told the whole time they were getting fixed.

The coco bar that is free at all secret resorts, charged a guest $25 for a cup of coffee. All the restaurants were closed one night because they wanted you to pay to watch a show. Our hot water was out the whole trip, had to take cold showers, asked to have it fixed but never did. Upon arrival we were brought down to the preferred club bar since we paid for the upgrade, but had to wait 2 hours for our room to be available, other guests got sent to dreams because they didn’t have any available rooms, The service was horrible, the staff got mad when you ordered food at the bar, ordered room service one and it never came. Worst secrets resort of all, we had an amazing time at my wedding in secrets Akumal, so my wife and I were excited, unfortunately I can’t believe secrets claims this resort.
